Overview

You can remove previously imported student records from a group import by marking them as inactive and re-importing the file. This process updates the existing records rather than deleting them manually.


Steps

  1. Open the original group import .CSV or .TXT file.
  2. For each record you want to remove, add a capital I (for inactive) in the column immediately after the student number.
  3. Save the file.
  4. Import the updated file again using Group Import.

Outcome

The records from the original group import are marked as inactive and no longer appear as active in the system.


Troubleshoot

  • You added an (for inactive) after the student ID number column, but the student remains part of the group. The addition of an "i" after the student ID number will not be acknowledged as an inactivation unless it is a capital "I".
  • Change the lowercase i to a capital I. Import the updated file again using Group Import. The # Students column will revise to remove the inactive students.
